Be A Mentor
Being a mentor allows you to have a significant impact on the life of an individual Scholar. Our Scholars need role models who exemplify accountability, responsibility, respect, ownership, and other positive character traits. Everyone needs people in their lives who show us that they care about our wellbeing and success. As a mentor, you can be that person for one or many of our Scholars.
Mentoring is structured one of two ways:
- Commits to meeting with an individual student at least twice a month for a minimum of two years. Mentors can plan outings and activities off of the school campus or meet with the Scholars at our school site. We ask that mentors work with the Scholars on academic accountability, character development and life-building skills.
- Commits to setting up a schedule to work with a group of Scholars over a long-term period to help guide the Scholars to a specific goal.
This bold internship program is redefining what it means to be a true community partner. When Chef Natalie Young opened up her three Downtown establishments (chow., eat. and bite.) she always knew she wanted to work with kids, especially Southern Nevada’s most under-resourced students. After speaking with the students at Core Academy earlier this year, the two organizations immediately felt the synergy, and the idea for chow. to the Core came to fruition.

Community Service Projects
Individuals, corporations and other groups can partner with us for our monthly community service projects. The Scholars love working alongside caring members of our community. We encourage you to call us if you have a community service project for us to consider, too.
Teach a Class/Speak to the Scholars
Do you have a special skill set or expertise you would like to teach our Scholars? How about sharing your education or life journey with them? Let us know and we can help facilitate a class or talk. Our Scholars get a tremendous amount of value from learning new skills and being introduced to new subjects. A conversation can truly change a life.
